Our Chapter History

In 2009, the first alumnae chapter in the state of Florida was founded: Alpha Zeta Alumnae Chapter. After many years of growth, this chapter was relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL. There became a need for another alumnae chapter; one that would become home to sisters in North and Central Florida.

On June 25th 2013, the Alpha Upsilon Alumnae Chapter was chartered by 10 sisters and centered in Orlando, FL. The creation of this chapter provided a solution to the void that many sisters were feeling and the challenges that many faced in having to travel long distances for events. Sisters wanted the opportunity to remain active within LTA after graduation, to continue working on professional and personal development, and to continue their commitment to sisterhood - our chapter gives them the chance to do so. Since 2013, our chapter has continued to grow each year; providing guidance and support for undergraduate chapters in the area, participating in community service events, and assisting in events within Florida Area 1. The growth and success of this chapter are attributed to the hard work and dedication of so many alumnae sisters who have been active with Alpha Upsilon.

The vision for Alpha Upsilon Alumnae Chapter is to be a home for sisters after they have graduated from their undergraduate chapters and to welcome new ladies into the organization. Sisters who become alumna from their undergrad chapter become active through Alpha Upsilon. They play a vital role in the strength and prosperity of the chapter; allowing our chapter to expand, grow and provide an environment to foster new sisters. Currently, we have 16 individuals that have become sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha at the alumnae level. As we continue to grow each year, both in size and in sisterhood, we hope to leave a timeless legacy in Florida; impacting those around us in a positive way.
